The main purpose of the project is to revitalize the existing urban structure by proposing a multi-functional building with a public square. The gallery is placed on a inner courtyard level to create the possibility to enlarge the area either for a gallery or a public square. Space inside the building is also created depending on users’ needs. Top two floors include divisible surfaces for rent that you can combine, split or leave completely open using modular, sliding walls. The project aims to create a place for business events and cultural meetings of people living in the city. In order for the new building to fit into existing urban fabric and “close” the city block, the facades were designed in minimalistic way to not interfere with architecture of adjoined objects. West, south and north facades are closed, concrete walls with sharp edges and small window openings. East facade, placed on an inner courtyard, is undulating, fluid in its form and fully open. The site area is designed on a basis of a negative structures. The convex form is a concrete cube acting as a sit and the concave form is a square flowerbed. Due to aesthetic and long growing season the only plant in the project is heather. Irregularly distributed vegetation is gently mingling with the space of the squares without interfering their minimalistic character.
