The building is a former establishment for Silesian Institute of Science, which ended it’s studies in early 90s. Graniczna 32 is a flagship example of polish brutalism, which should remain in the urban fabric of Katowice. The object should ne kept in the original form, that is why the main goal of the project is revitalization of both the building and surrounding area. Location of the object is very convenient, it is located in the center of the city and right next to the Silesian Library, which is a good basis for the development of cultural zone and creating a sort of a moden extension for existing library. Ground floor of the building will be turnt into an open, multi-functional space, where the outside interfuses with the inside and creates a big public square. The next floor will be a space for working, it will have a multimedia library, rooms for lectures and workshops and conference rooms for rent.
